Self-evaluation
IPSS questionnaire: evaluate your urinary symptoms
Seven questions, three minutes, a live score out of 35. It's the benchmark international questionnaire for measuring the severity of your urinary symptoms.
Seven questions about your symptoms from the past month. Your score is displayed as you go.
Understand your score
L'IPSS, for International Prostate Symptom Score, has been used worldwide since the 1990s. It quantifies what you are feeling: two men describing «urinary symptoms» can have scores of 6 and 28.
- 0 to 7 — mild symptoms. Monitoring and a few lifestyle adjustments are often enough.
- 8 to 19 — moderate symptoms. An assessment is warranted to identify the cause and discuss options.
- 20 to 35 — severe symptoms. A consultation is recommended immediately.

After the questionnaire
Your score assesses your discomfort, it does not replace a clinical assessment. If the result worries you or confirms what you were feeling, the next step is to look for the cause.
- Consultation and clinical examinationReview of your history, examination, and interpretation of your score in context: age, medical history, current treatments.
- Ultrasound and PSA testMeasurement of prostate volume, post-void residual, and biological screening.
- Discussion of optionsSurveillance, drug therapy, or minimally invasive technique, depending on what the evaluation reveals and your priorities.

Frequently asked questions
Does the IPSS score provide a diagnosis?
No. It measures the severity of your symptoms, not their cause. A high score can be due to an adenoma, prostatitis, or a bladder disorder. Only an evaluation can determine the cause.
How often should I refill it?
Once a year is enough for simple monitoring. In the event of ongoing treatment, it is useful to repeat it three to six months after the start, to objectively measure the benefit obtained.
My score has increased since last year, is that a problem?
A change of a few points remains trivial and also depends on your current state. A clear progression of ten points or more, on the other hand, deserves an opinion: it reflects a real worsening of the impact.
Do we need to count nighttime wake-ups exactly?
Take a typical night, neither your worst night nor your best. If you hesitate between two answers, choose the most frequent one over the last month.
Are my responses recorded?
No. The score is calculated in your browser and nothing is stored. If you choose to submit your answers to us, they are sent to us by email and are not stored in a database.
